Dear Ms. Boland:

On February 20, 2018, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued a Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty to Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC). SNC has chosen to pay the proposed Civil Penalty of $145,000 and will not contest the Civil Penalty in whole or in part. The Notice of Violation EA-17-166 required that SNC provide a statement indicating when and by what method payment was made.

Southern Company has made the required payment to the NRC utilizing the Automated Clearinghouse Network (ACH) as described in the first section of NUREG/BR-0254, Revision 8, "NRC Payment Methods," February 2018. This payment was made via ACH on March 12,2018.

This completes the information requested by the above referenced Notice of Violation.
