SUBJECT:
SCHEDULING OF INITIAL OPERATOR LICENSE EXAMINATIONS
, DUANE ARNOLD ENERGY CENTER
Dear Mr. Vehec:
We have received your letter s NG-1 4-0 029, dated January 2 9, 201 4 , and NG-14-0158 dated June 20, 2014. In these letter s , you requested that initial operator licensing examination s originally scheduled for March 2017 be moved to April 2017.
Additionally, you requested an initial license exam be scheduled for May 2019.
Based upon your request, we have scheduled the following initial license exams for Duane Arnold Energy Center for the weeks of:
April 17 and 24, 2017
, with an onsite validation date the week of March 20, 201 7. May 13 and 20, 2019
, with an onsite validation date the week of April 15, 201 9. The NRC will write your April 2015 initial license exam in accordance with NUREG
-1021, Revision 9, Supplement 1. In the unlikely event that we are unable to support the examination during the scheduled weeks, we will inform you immediately
, upon discovery
, of such conditions and make arrangements to administer the examination at a mutually acceptable date.
We understand that your staff will develop the examination s scheduled for 201 7 and 2019 unless we determine it is necessary for the NRC to develop an examination in which case, we will notify you immediately upon discovery of that need. Because your letter indicated that there were more than nine applicants being considered for these examination s, the examination s were scheduled for two weeks. Please inform us if the number of candidates change for any examination as this will impact the examination schedule. Also, please inform us at your earliest opportunity if you discover you need to change the scheduled dates for the examinations.
A supplementary letter will be sent to the training department approximately 120 days prior to the examination informing the training manager of the chief examiner's name. The letter will also outline examination security expectations, list the materials required by the NRC to conduct the examination, reconfirm the examination date, and reconfirm the number of candidates you have in the Training Program
.
