SUBJECT:

LONG MOTT ENERGY, LLC. - LONG MOTT GENERATING STATION CONSTRUCTION PERMIT APPLICATION REVIEW STATUS (EPIDS: L-2025-LRM-0035 AND L-2025-CPE-0000)

Dear Mr. Feltner:

The purpose of this letter is to provide the status of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs review of Long Mott Energy, LLCs (LME) Long Mott Generating Station (LMGS) construction permit (CP) application submitted on March 31, 2025. The NRC staff accepted the CP application for review by letter dated May 12, 2025 (ML25115A247). The NRCs acceptance letter noted that LMEs CP application included site characterization information based, in part, on regional data to support analyses and findings. LME stated that it would submit additional site-specific information expected to be confirmatory in nature at a future date. Based on this understanding, on June 10, 2025, the NRC transmitted the review schedule and resource estimate to LME for the detailed review of the application (ML25155B841). The NRC staff has completed the draft safety evaluation (SE) milestone for the safety review of the LMGS CP application and is progressing through its environmental review, consistent with the timeline communicated in the June 10, 2025 schedule letter.

LME submitted the additional site-specific information for NRC staffs review, consistent with the timeline incorporated in the resource and schedule estimate. The NRC staff remains committed to complete the final SE, consistent with the existing schedule and resource estimate. The NRC staff notes significant progress in addressing questions and information needs through regulatory audits and appreciates the continued support of LME in this area. The NRC staff will continue to engage with LME through the ongoing audit to resolve information needs to support the issuance of the final SE. Completing the final SE as communicated will require LMEs continued support to address issues identified in a timely manner.
