Mr. Billy C. Hunt Secured Transportation Services, LLC 90 W. Moreno Street Buford, GA 30518

SUBJECT:

ACCEPTANCE OF U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY SPENT NUCLEAR FUEL ROUTE APPLICATION (U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION ROUTE NO. 192B), DOCKET NUMBER: 070-07011

Dear Mr. Hunt:

On January 15, 2025, Secured Transportation Services (STS) submitted an application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), for approval of a route for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) shipments of spent nuclear fuel (SNF), in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Section 73.37(b)(1)(vi).

The NRC staff has determined that the shipment(s) of SNF are not subject to NRC regulatory requirements. Therefore, we are providing this acceptance review on a voluntary basis to assist DOE in its route planning. The NRC staff has reviewed your SNF route application and determined that it contains sufficient information to begin a detailed technical and security review. Our goal is to complete our review of the route application within 45 days of the date of this letter.

If you have any questions or wish to obtain additional information concerning your application, please contact Devonte Hinton at (301) 415-3490 or via electronic mail at Devonte.Hinton@nrc.gov.

Sincerely, Joe Willis, Acting Chief Materials Security Branch Division of Physical and Cyber Security Policy Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response Docket No. 70-7011 January 21, 2026 Signed by Willis, Joseph on 01/21/26
