January 5, 2026 Week Ending: December 19, 2025 ENCLOSURE C Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Items of Interest The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Issued Information Notice 2025-06, Lessons Learned from U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Inspections of Commercial Grade Dedication at Nuclear Power Plants On December 12, 2025, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Information Notice 2025-06, Lessons Learned from U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Inspections of Commercial Grade Dedication at Nuclear Power Plants (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML25169A315). The purpose is to notify licensees of recent information related to lessons learned from NRC inspections of commercial grade dedicated items at nuclear power plants.

NRC Renewed the Operating Licenses for Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3 On December 16, 2025, the NRC renewed the operating licenses for Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, authorizing operation for an additional 20 years beyond the renewed license expiration dates. The new expiration date for Unit 2 is December 22, 2049. The new expiration date for Unit 3 is January 12, 2051. The staff completed the review as documented in, Safety Evaluation Report Related to the Subsequent License Renewal of Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, issued in September 2025, and NUREG-1437, Supplement 17 to the Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Regarding Subsequent License Renewal for Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, published in September 2025. The issuance of the Dresden Nuclear Power Station, Units 2 and 3, subsequent renewed license brings the total number of subsequent renewals to 20 reactor units.

NRC Renewed the Operating License for Clinton Power Station, Unit 1 On December 16, 2025, the NRC renewed the operating license for Clinton Power Station, Unit 1, authorizing operation for an additional 20 years beyond the renewed license expiration date.

The new expiration date for Unit 1 is April 17, 2047. The staff completed the review as documented in, Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Clinton Power Station, Unit 1, issued in August 2025, and NUREG-1437, Supplement 63 to the Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Regarding License Renewal for Clinton Power Station, Unit 1, published in August 2025. The issuance of the Clinton Power Station, Unit 1, renewed license brings the total number of renewals to 98 reactor units.

On December 19, 2025, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission published a document in the Federal Register (90 FR 59402) proposing to amend its regulations to incorporate by reference the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Standard (Std) 603-2018, IEEE Standard Criteria for Safety Systems for Nuclear Power Generating Stations. The IEEE Std 603-2018 is the most recent version of IEEE Std 603 that addresses the power, instrumentation, and control safety systems for nuclear power reactors. The amendment also incorporates editorial changes that do not change technical information. Comments are requested by February 17, 2026.
