Date:
Monday, December 15, 2025 1:37:00 PM Licensee: PSEG Nuclear LLC Plant: Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 License No(s).: DPR-70 and DPR-75 Docket No(s).: 50-272 and 50-311
- Shane,
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff emailed the licensee an acceptance review on August 11, 2025 (ML25223A233) for license amendment request (LAR) S25-02 submitted via letter LR-N25-0050 on July 21, 2025 (ML25203A072). In that acceptance review, the NRC staff informed the licensee that the staff expects to complete its review by April 21, 2026.
The Federal Government was shut down from October 1 through November12, 2025, resulting in a temporary suspension of most regulatory review activities at the NRC in accordance with Management Directive4.5, Contingency Plan for Periods of Lapsed Appropriations (ML25183A157). As a result, the NRC staff is assessing the schedule impacts for all licensing actions.
The purpose of this email is to inform the licensee that following its assessment, the NRC staff has determined its schedule for reviewing LARS25-02 has been impacted and will not be completed by the estimated completion date previously provided. The NRC staff now expects to complete its review of LAR S25-02 on or by June26, 2026. The staffs hours estimate has not changed.
The revised estimated completion date could change because of factors such as requests for additional information and unanticipated addition of the review scope. If emergent complexities or challenges arise that would result in a change to the estimated completion date or significant changes in the estimated hours, the reasons for the change, and a revised estimate will be communicated during routine interactions with the assigned licensing project manager(s) and documented.
