OF DECEMBER 2, 2025, CLOSED VIRTUAL PRE-SUBMITTAL MEETING WITH GE VERNOVA HITACHI NUCLEAR ENERGY AMERICAS, LLC, REGARDING FUTURE SUBMITTAL OF ULTRA PLUS CONTROL ROD TOPICAL REPORT (EPID L-2025-LRM-0145)
On December 2, 2025, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR), Division of Safety Systems (DSS) and Division of Operating Reactor Licensing (DORL) staff held a virtual closed pre-submittal meeting with representatives from GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas, LLC (GVH). The purpose of the meeting was for the GVH representatives to present and discuss with the NRC staff proprietary information related to the future submittal of the Ultra Plus control rod topical report (TR). The presentation focused on the overview of Ultra product line, Ultra surveillance requirements, Marathon-5S and Marathon-Ultra visual inspection data, and Ultra permanently discharged inspections. The GVH representatives also discussed changes to the Ultra Plus control rod. The GVH representatives concluded the presentation with an overview of the TR submittal goals, summary, and the submittal timeline.
On November 18, 2025, GVH submitted presentation slides to the NRC (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Package Accession No. ML25322A388). The meeting was noticed on November 17, 2025, and the meeting notice is available in ADAMS under Accession No. ML25321A290. A list of the attendees is enclosed.
