Good morning Ms. Stancil and Ms. Bergmann:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff plans to issue an amendment to Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (Vogtle), Units 1 and 2, on approximately October 17, 2025.
By letter dated December 19, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML24354A346), as supplemented by letter dated July 9, 2025 (ML25190A607), SNC requested that the NRC amend Vogtle, Units 1 and2, Renewed Facility Operating License (RFOL) Numbers NPF-68 and NPF-81, respectively.
The proposed license amendment request (LAR) revises Technical Specification (TS) 3.6.6, Containment Spray and Cooling Systems, Surveillance Requirement 3.6.6.8 to change the frequency to verify each containment spray system spray nozzle is unobstructed.
If the State of Georgia has comments on the license amendment request, please provide the comments by noon on October 6, 2025.
