EMDA Uncertainties Assessment of Completed Research NUREG/CR 7153 volume 5, expanded material degradation assessment (EMDA) of electrical cables identified potential knowledge gaps related to:

Activation energy Diffusion limited oxidation Dose rate effects Synergistic effects between thermal and radiation aging Sequential versus concurrent aging Inverse temperature effects Pre-aging of semi-crystalline materials DOE, EPRI, NRC, and other entities studied knowledge gaps and uncertainties This study aimed to collect, review, and evaluate results pertaining to research efforts The findings will enhance the current understandings and will inform regulatory positions Findings Documented in Technical Letter Report TLR-RES/DE 2025-08 in ADAMS under accession number ML25233A048 4
