Dear Dir. Fox:
Enclosed is an export license application, XSNM3841/01, received by the US. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on July 17, 2025, from ALARA Logistics requesting an amendment to active export license XSNM3841. The current license authorizes the export of 20 kg of uranium containing 3.99 kg of uranium-235, enriched up to 19.95%, in the form of metal pieces, fabricated at Framatome in France and used as Lead Test Assemblies in the BR-2 research reactor at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre.
The purpose of this amendment is to increase the quantity of material to 220 kgs of uranium, containing 43.89 kgs of uranium-235, enriched up to 19.95% and to change the ultimate end use from low enriched uranium (LEU) lead test assemblies to support BR2 LEU conversion to LEU initial driver fuel to support BR2 LEU conversion.
Assurances from EURATOM that the material will be subject to all the terms and conditions of the agreement for cooperation are required. Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.
