ACCEPTANCE FOR REVEIW OF X-ENERGY'S "QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION," AND "X-ENERGY, LLC PART 71 PROJECT QUALITY ASSURANCE PLAN"
Dear Stephen Vaughn,
By letter dated June 19, 2025 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System
[ADAMS] Accession No. ML25170A014), X-Energy has submitted its NRC approved quality assurance program description (QAPD), Revision 6 along with the X-Energy, LLC 10 CFR Part 71 Subpart H Project Quality Assurance Plan (Part 71 PQP), to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for review and approval for 10 CFR Part 71 activities.
The purpose of this e-mail is to inform X-Energy the results of the NRC staffs acceptance review of this proposed action request. The acceptance review is also intended to identify any readily apparent deficiencies related to the QAPD and the Part 71 PQP.
The staff has reviewed your QAPD and Part 71 PQP and concluded that it includes technical information in sufficient detail to enable the staff to complete its detailed review and make an independent assessment regarding the acceptability of the proposed request in terms of regulatory requirements and the protection of public health and safety and the environment. The NRC staff expects to issue its request for additional information (RAI) by August 14, 2025, and issue its draft NRC Form 311 by October 17, 2025. A portion of the basis for completion of the evaluation on this schedule is X-Energys response to the RAI within 30 days of your receipt.
