SUMMARY
OF JUNE 24, 2025, CLOSED PRE-SUBMITTAL MEETING WITH FRAMATOME INC. AND THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION FOR TOPICAL REPORT, ANP-10359P, REVISION 0, PROTECT: INCORPORATION OF CHROMIUM-COATED M5 CLADDING MATERIAL PROPERTIES IN FRAMATOME PWR METHODS (EPID L-2025-LRM-0081)
On June 24, 2025, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a virtual closed public meeting via Microsoft Teams with representatives from Framatome Inc. (Framatome).
The purpose of this meeting was for the NRC staff to hold pre-submittal discussions on Framatome Topical Report (TR) ANP-10359P, Revision 0, PROtect: Incorporation of Chromium-Coated M5 Cladding Material Properties in Framatome [Pressurized Water Reactor]
PWR Methods. The notice dated June 11, 2025, and all other meeting related information is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System at Package Accession No. ML25174A381, and the list of attendees is enclosed.
Framatomes objectives for the meeting were to provide the NRC staff with information regarding the TR content, its overall strategy, the planned submittal schedule, and to request NRC staffs feedback. Framatome representatives explained the background and basis for the TR including the Chromium-Coated M5 cladding material properties, physical properties, and requirements. Framatome representatives also explained the applicability of the TR to its advanced codes and methods. The content of the TR was also discussed in detail. Several NRC staff questions were addressed during the discussions. In closing, there were discussions on the next steps and planned submittal schedule. No regulatory decisions and commitments were made at the meeting.
