ELTB concurrenced on audit plan 06-23.pdf Hash Hashemian, President Analysis and Measurement Services Corporation AMS Technology Center 9119 Cross Park Drive Knoxville, TN 37923 USA Dr. Hashemian:

By letter dated August 20, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)

Accession No. ML24233A208) and supplemented by letter dated December 4, 2024 (ADAMS Accession No. ML24339B787), Analysis and Measurement Services Corporation (AMS, the vendor) requested review of a topical report on an aging cable management methodology. This methodology is meant to extend the service life of electrical cables as installed in nuclear facilities by helping to quantify the aged condition of cables, make objective decisions about cable repair and replacement schedules, satisfy plant life extension requirements, meet the cable aging management objectives of the nuclear industry, and improve on the time-based approaches currently used to determine cable lifetime.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff reviewed the vendors application and determined that a regulatory audit would assist in the completion of the NRC staffs review. The NRC staff will conduct a regulatory audit to support its review on the aging cable management methodology in accordance with the enclosed audit plan. A regulatory audit is a planned activity that includes the examination and evaluation of primarily non-docketed information.

The NRC staff plans to primarily conduct the audit virtually via an electronic portal established by AMS to share information and Microsoft Teams meetings to conduct discussions. However, should the NRC staff determine that an in--person audit would be a more efficient method to conduct the audit and gather needed information, the staff may use that approach in addition to the virtual audit.
