Thank you. For the official record I wanted to document that there is not a safety or security concern related to the material under your license. The issue is strictly related to reporting requirements.

I am working the request internally and will update you when complete.

Thanks,

The issue is not related to loss, theft, or diversion of material Type 50.

The material physical piece count was satisfactory and all pieces of SNM are accounted for at the XLB site. The issue seems to be in software space.

Currently TVA IT people are working on getting the information for our database sent over with our database schema to the software developers to try and figure out in debug mode where the program is crashing at.

Andrew, You indicated that this value appears to be a software issue. Can you confirm that the error is not related to loss, theft, or diversion of MT 50?

One other thing I realized that I forgot to mention in the earlier email is the period for reporting for XLB would end at the end of this week.

RE: Request for extension in the annual reporting for XLB (Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant)

Not CCing everyone on this email response. But here is the a little more of the situation. We are working on it getting it completed and working on it through with the Vendor of the software (Westinghouse) that we use. However when we went to process it the first time there was an erroneous value that was clearly wrong for material 50 (plutonium). Westinghouse believed they knew what the problem might have been in the software and we were trying to get it corrected, And today when we went to attempt to implement their suggested solution, which did not end up working. So Westinghouse has requested for us to send them a copy of our database for them to run through debugging mode. And our internal process for sending data over is somewhat streamlined if we can get our database administrator to send it over quickly we might be able to get resolution by the end of this week but I do not know what time frame getting a response from the vendor will look like.

Again, feel free to call if you have any questions I am available to discuss.

Thanks,

[External_Sender] RE: Request for extension in the annual reporting for XLB (Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant)

Ms. Shoemaker,

I am emailing requesting an extension for XLBs annual reporting due date. Reason from email below:

In the processing of our data for our annual report to submit, we discovered what appears to be an erroneous number for our rounding adjustment for Material Type

50. This error was discovered over the weekend and we have subsequently reached out to the vendor of our SNM material tracking software seeking advice from them for what could be a potential cause for it. We at TVA have a few ideas for what might be the cause, but these are just hypotheses surrounding the 300 day shutdown, but before we take action on trying to remedy it, I have sought out advice from the software experts

Please give me a call if you have any questions or need further details.

Thanks,

[EXTERNAL] Request for extension in the annual reporting for XLB (Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant)

NMMSS,

In the processing of our data for our annual report to submit, we discovered what appears to be an erroneous number for our rounding adjustment for Material Type 50.

This error was discovered over the weekend and we have subsequently reached out to the vendor of our SNM material tracking software seeking advice from them for what could be a potential cause for it. We at TVA have a few ideas for what might be the cause, but these are just hypotheses surrounding the 300 day shutdown, but before we take action on trying to remedy it, I have sought out advice from the software experts.

What do we TVA need to do if we extend beyond our 60 days for reporting this information to you?

Thanks in advance,
