In response to this request (see below), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued a notice to Mr. Daniel Elbert, Field Supervisor, Tennessee Ecological Services Field Office, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service designating Orano Enrichment USA, LLC (Orano) as its non-Federal representative to conduct informal consultation under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (ESA) for Oranos proposed uranium enrichment facility (also known as Project IKE).
The notice is publicly available electronically in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS), Accession No. ML25083A179.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The PDR is open by appointment. Orano Enrichment USA, LLC (Orano) provided a letter to formally notify the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of their intent to file an application to obtain a license for a uranium enrichment facility and associated materials licenses. [ML25029A252]. An Environmental Report will be submitted to the NRC pursuant to 10 CFR Part 51. Orano agrees to be designated as the Non-Federal Representative (NFR) for consultation during the NRC staff environmental review of Oranos license application for Project IKE with oversight from the NRC. Orano will conduct consultations authorized under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) section 7, which enables Orano to conduct ESA consultation activities on behalf of the NRC.
