U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION VERIFICATION LETTER FOR THE TOPICAL REPORT, HOLTEC PSA RISK SIGNIFICANCE DETERMINATION METHODOLOGY LICENSING TOPICAL REPORT, HI2230875A REVISION 1
Dear Mr. Brenner:
By letter dated February 20, 2025, Holtec International, Small Modular Reactor (SMR), LLC (hereafter referred to as Holtec) submitted the approved version of Topical Report (TR), Holtec PSA Risk Significance Determination Methodology Licensing Topical Report, HI-2230875-A Revision 11 to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff. The TR was submitted for final verification in support of future licensing applications submitted under Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 50, Domestic Licensing of Production and Utilization Facilities, or Part 52, Licenses, Certifications, and Approvals for Nuclear Power Plants.
Holtec submitted the -A version of the subject TR in accordance with the NRC request to publish an approved version, as detailed in the staffs final safety evaluation transmittal letter2.
The NRC staff has verified that the submitted -A version is acceptable and is approved for referencing in future licensing applications by Holtec to the extent specified under the Limitations and Conditions delineated in the staffs final safety evaluation.
If the NRCs criteria or regulations change so that its conclusion in this letter (that the TR is acceptable) is invalidated, Holtec will be expected to revise and resubmit its respective documentation or submit justification for the continued applicability of the TR without revision of the respective documentation.
