NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION - NRC OFFICE OF INVESTIGATIONS CASE NOS. 1-2024-005 AND 1-2024-008
Dear David Rhoades:
The Region I Field Office, NRC Office of Investigations (OI), initiated Investigation No.
1-2024-005 on November 22, 2023, to determine whether a radiation protection (RP) employee at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station (NMP) falsified RP records. Based upon documentary and testimonial evidence developed during the OI investigation, the NRC did not substantiate that the RP employee falsified records.
Separately, on January 19, 2024, OI initiated Investigation No. 1-2024-008, to determine whether a Senior As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Specialist at NMP was deliberately discriminated against by an RP Manager for raising safety concerns. Based upon documentary and testimonial evidence developed during the OI investigation, the NRC did not substantiate that the Senior ALARA Specialist was discriminated against.
Please note that final NRC investigation documents, such as the OI reports described above, may be made available to the public under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) subject to redaction of information appropriate under the FOIA. Requests under the FOIA should be made in accordance with 10 CFR 9.23, Requests for Records.
