The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed an acceptance review of the submittal from American Centrifuge Operating, LLC., dated December 19, 2024 (ML24366A069),
requesting for the continued high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) operations (Phase III) at the American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio. We have identified no administrative omissions or deficiencies that would prevent us from proceeding with a detailed review. Your request has been assigned Enterprise Project Identifier (EPID) L-2025-LLA-0000. Please reference that EPID number and Docket Number 70-7004 in any future correspondence associated with this request.
Please note that the NRC staffs technical review of your submittal may identify issues that require additional information. Although the NRC staff is prioritizing the review of your submittal - based on our preliminary review, projection of current review schedules, and available resources, we now anticipate completing our review by June 23, 2025. This date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule. In addition, the NRC staff estimates that completing the review of your submittal will require up to 400 staff hours, which corresponds to about $126,800.00
($317.00/hr.). This estimate could change based on future submittals particularly related to the HALEU contract between American Centrifuge Operating and the Department of Energy. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this estimate.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this e-mail will be available for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or electronically from the Publicly Available Records System component of the Agencywide Documents access and Management System (ADAMS).
