OF JANUARY 28, 2025, PUBLIC MEETING WITH ENTERGY OPERATIONS, INC. TO DISCUSS A PROPOSED ALTERNATIVE EXAMINATION OF STEAM GENERATOR WELDS FOR ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNITS 1 AND 2 (EPID L-2024-LLR-0038)

On January 28, 2025, an Observation public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy, the licensee). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a proposed alternative examination of steam generator welds for Arkansas Nuclear One, Units 1 and 2, submitted on June 6, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24158A389). On September 23, 2024, the NRC staff issued requests for additional information (RAIs) (ML24267A211) regarding the proposed alternatives. On October 16, 2024, Entergy responded to the RAIs (ML24290A098). The NRC staff has determined that additional discussion of the RAI responses is needed to complete this evaluation. The meeting notice and agenda were published on January 16, 2025 (ML25023A153). NRC discussion topics (ML25003A039) and the licensee presentation for the meeting (ML25023A058) were made available prior to the meeting. Enclosed is a list of attendees at the meeting.

During the meeting, the NRC staff and the licensee discussed each of discussion topics and the information needed that could be provided to address them. This included the number of welds that should be considered in any supplement to the request. Subsequent to the meeting, the licensee indicated that it would supplement its request to address the discussion topics.

No regulatory decisions were made as a result of this meeting. No members of the public identified themselves on the teleconference. No Public Meeting Feedback forms were received.
