Friday, January 10, 2025 11:07:00 AM

Dear Ashley Morris:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has received the submittal from Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. (NFS) dated November 25, 2024, which transmitted an updated Decommissioning Funding Plan and cost estimate per the requirements set forth in 10 CFR 70.25(e)(2). The cover letter is available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession Number ML24341A056.

The NRC staff has completed the acceptance review of the submittal and identified no administrative omissions or deficiencies that would prevent the staff from proceeding with a detailed review. The request from NFS has been assigned Enterprise Project Identifier (EPID) L-2024-DFA-0021. Please reference that EPID number and Docket Number 70-143 in any future correspondence associated with this request.

Please note that the NRC staffs technical review of the submittal may identify issues that require additional information. Based on the preliminary evaluation and projection of current review schedules, the staff anticipates completing our formal review by June 13, 2025. This date could change depending on the findings of the technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. I will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule. In addition, the staff estimates that completing the review of the submittal will require up to 80 staff hours, which corresponds to about $25,360.00 ($317.00/hour).

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or electronically from the Publicly Available Records System component of the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). The PDR is currently open Monday-Friday by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, you may submit your request to the PDR via email at PDR.Resource@nrc.gov or call 1-800-397-4209 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (EST), Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays. The ADAMS database is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/readingrm/adams.html.

If you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact me at (301) 415-7744, or via e mail at James.Downs@nrc.gov.

James R. Downs, P.E.
