SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF JANUARY 16, 2025, MEETING WITH CONSTELLATION ENERGY GENERATION, LLC, RELATED TO THE AMENDMENT REQUEST TO ALLOW MODIFICATION OF THE STANDBY GAS TREATMENT SYSTEM (EPID L-2024-LLA-0149)

On January 16, 2025, an observation public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and representatives of Constellation Energy Generation, LLC (Constellation). The purpose of the meeting was for the NRC staff to discuss a license amendment request (LAR) for Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 1 and 2 (Quad Cities). The LAR was submitted on November 4, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24309A271) and requests to modify the Quad Cities technical specifications to allow the modification of the standby gas treatment system.

The meeting notice and agenda dated January 2, 2025, can be found in ADAMS (ML25002A025). A list of attendees is provided as the Enclosure.

The NRC staff queried Constellation on the radiological consequences analysis provided in the LAR. Specifically, the NRC staff noted that for the staff to make its regulatory finding, an independent verification of the inputs, initial conditions, and assumptions to the analysis would need to be performed. The staff identified to Constellation that the staff could complete that analysis by generating the supporting information used to determine the results in the LAR, or Constellation could provide the supporting information for the NRC staff to use to do its independent verification. Constellation indicated that they would provide the supporting information.

Members of the public were in attendance. No regulatory decisions were made at this meeting.
