By letter EVR_LTR_240176 dated July 31, 2024, Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC requested a review of the TRISO Fuel Design Methodology Topical Report related to the eVinciTM microreactor. By email dated September 13, 2024, the NRC staff issued an acceptance of the TRISO Fuel Design Methodology Topical Report. The email also stated that a regulatory audit may be beneficial to the review.
The NRC has determined that a regulatory audit would assist in review of the TRISO Fuel Design Methodology Topical Report. Since the audit plan may include proprietary information a link to the audit plan in Box has been sent to you in a separate email. The NRC staff will conduct the audit to seek clarification, gain understanding, and verify information regarding the information provided in the TRISO Fuel Design Methodology Topical Report. The audit plan kick-off meeting between NRC staff and Westinghouse was conducted on January 27, 2025.
