GEOFFREY MILLER CONCERNING COOPER NUCLEAR STATION
RESPONSE TO U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION INSPECTION
REPORT 05000298/2024003
Dear Matthew Hopkins:
Thank you for your letter dated December 19, 2024 (Agencywide Document and Access
Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML25015A018), sent in response to the
U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Inspection Report 05000298/2024003 (ADAMS
Accession No. ML24291A261) dated November 05, 2024, associated with the Cooper Nuclear
Station. In your letter, you express concerns on how non-cited violation (NCV)05000298/2024003-01, Failure to Maintain Environmental Qualification of Process Line
Connections Associated with Safety-Related Instrumentation, affects the applicability of 10
CFR 50.49.
The NRC is in the process of reviewing NCV 05000298/2024003-01 in response to Nebraska
Public Power Districts (NPPD) letter dated December 04, 2024 (ADAMS Accession No.
ML24340A107), which disputed the violation. When our review is complete, we will document
our conclusions in a letter to NPPD, which will be publicly available in ADAMS under the Cooper
Nuclear Station (Docket No. 05000298). We plan to provide the results of our evaluation to
NPPD and the basis for any decision relative to the disputed NCV by written response within 90
days from the receipt of the letter dated December 04, 2024.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Agency Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be made
available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or in the NRCs
ADAMS, accessible from the NRCs website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
