SUBJECT:

SAINT LUCIE 2024 INTERIM UPDATED EVACUATION TIME ESTIMATE

Dear Mr. Warnock:

On August 13, 2024, NextEra Energy submitted an updated Evacuation Time Estimate (ETE)

(ML24226A481) in accordance with section IV.6 of Appendix E to Title 10, Part 50 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR Part 50) based on an increase in the evacuation time caused by population change. On October 22, 2024, NextEra submitted a correction which included the full ETE study (ML24296B197). The NRC staff completed its review to verify consistent application of the updated guidance contained in NUREG/CR-7002, Criteria for Development of Evacuation Time Estimate Studies, Revision 1 on December 18, 2024. This review does not constitute formal NRC approval of the updated ETE analyses. As such, the updated ETE analyses will remain subject to future NRC inspection.

Any questions regarding the status, process, or content of the NRC staffs review should be directed to Keith Miller at Keith.Miller@NRC.gov or (301) 287-9227.

Sincerely, Jessie Quichocho, Chief Reactor Licensing Branch Division of Preparedness and Response Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response cc: C. Fiore, FEMA HQ, January 28, 2025 Signed by Quichocho, Jessie on 01/28/25
