Dave Gasperson, 404-997-4417 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Robinson Nuclear Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has named Cordie Dorman as its resident inspector at the Robinson Nuclear Plant near Hartsville, South Carolina. He joins NRC Senior Resident Inspector John Zeiler at the plant.
Dorman joined the agency in 2023 as part of the NRCs Resident Inspector Development Program at the Region IV office in Arlington, Texas.
Before joining the NRC, he spent nine years in the U.S. Navy aboard a fast-attack submarine at Pearl Harbor and later taught mechanical fundamentals at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, South Carolina.
While in the Navy, Dorman served as a volunteer firefighter with the Goose Creek Rural Fire Department. He holds a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering technology from Excelsior College.
Were excited to have Cordie join the inspection team at Robinson, said NRC Region II Administrator Laura Dudes. His Navy experience and NRC training make him an excellent addition. He and John will work together to ensure the plant continues to meet our high safety standards.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
