The NRC staff has recently become aware of an outdated reference to 10 CFR 73.71 in the basis information section of IC HU1, HA1, and HS1 in NEI 99-01 Revision 7 Draft J dated July 2024. 10 CFR 73.71 was deleted when the recent Enhanced Weapons, Firearms Background Checks, and Security Event Notifications rule making became effective April 13, 2023. The reporting requirements described in 10 CFR § 73.71 have been moved to 10 CFR 73 Subpart TSecurity Notifications, Reports, and Recordkeeping. Based on this information please make the appropriate reference revisions in the basis information sections of IC HU1, HA1, and HS1 in NEI 99-01 Revision 7 Draft J dated July 2024.
