On August 20, 2024, a hybrid closed meeting was held with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives from NEI, the industry, and the Union of Concerned Scientists. The purpose of the meeting was to give NEI an opportunity to present industrys proposed approaches for 1) identifying applicable NRC security requirements for early warning systems (EWS)1, and 2) documenting and crediting EWS as part of licensees physical protection programs and protective strategies.
NEI and industry representatives answered participants questions. Within the next 2 months, NEI anticipates providing a copy of its proposal to the NRC staff for review and potential

No regulatory decisions were made during this meeting.
