In the proposed violation, detailed in a June 2024 NRC inspection report, inspectors found the plant did not take the necessary steps to keep the Unit 2 diesel building's emergency ventilation system working properly. This resulted in the units emergency diesel generator being inoperable for longer than allowed by NRC safety guidelines.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Eastern time at the NRCs Region II office, Marquis One Tower, 245 Peachtree Center Ave. NE, in Atlanta, Georgia. Interested members of the public can attend in person, view the meeting on Teams, or participate by phone by calling 301-576-2978, passcode 438663909#.
Following the business portion of the meeting there will be an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed during the regulatory conference.
During the regulatory conference, Duke Energy representatives will have the opportunity to provide their perspectives and additional information concerning this issue before the agency makes its final enforcement decision.
No decisions on the final safety significance or any potential NRC actions regarding the proposed violation will be made at the meeting.
