July 23, 2024 UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION BEFORE THE ATOMIC SAFETY AND LICENSING BOARD In the Matter of DUKE ENERGY CAROLINAS, LLC (Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1, 2, and 3 Docket No. 50-269-SLR-2, 50-270-SLR-2, 50-287-SLR-2 NRC STAFF UPDATE RELATED TO THE JUNE 28, 2024, LICENSING BOARD MEMORANDUM AND ORDER Consistent with the NRC Staffs July 3, 2024, response to the Licensing Boards June 28, 2024, Memorandum and Order, the NRC Staff is providing the following update. The NRC Staff is consulting with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on information in this proceeding. That process is ongoing. In the interim, the NRC Staff will propose information to be redacted in the proceeding so that the Licensing Board may make decisions on contention admissibility, if it chooses. Should the result of the NRC Staffs consultation with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission change the proposed redactions, the NRC Staff will promptly notify the Licensing Board and the parties.
The NRC Staff has consulted with the participants in this matter on a proposed joint motion for a protective order, consistent with the July 8, 2024, Memorandum and Order. The NRC Staff will file the proposed joint motion for a protective order on July 24, 2024. Additionally, on July 22, 2024, the NRC Staff initiated consultation with the participants regarding a draft proposed joint motion for redaction of the official transcript from the June 24, 2024, initial prehearing conference. The redactions are being proposed consistent with
10 C.F.R. § 2.390(a)(3). The NRC Staff will promptly file its proposed transcript redactions once consultation with the parties is complete.
