NRC Form 898 Topical Report Completeness Determination.pdf NRC Form 897 Proprietary Withholding Determination.pdf Delaney, Darrell, Drew, and Jim,
Attached is the completeness determination form and proprietary withholding determination for Kairos Power, LLC (Kairos) topical report KP-TP-020-P, Safety Analysis Methodology for the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High-Temperature Test Reactor, Revision 0.
This report was submitted by letter dated June 4, 2024, and Kairos requested completion of the acceptance review within 30 days of receipt. The NRC staff has completed the acceptance review of KP-TR-020-P and found that the material presented is sufficient to begin a detailed technical review. In addition, the NRC staff evaluated Kairos request to withhold proprietary information from public release and determined that the information requested to be withheld is consistent with 10 CFR 2.390. Therefore, the submitted information marked as proprietary will be withheld from public disclosure.
The NRC staff plans to issue the draft safety evaluation by August 11, 2025. If needed, the NRC staff will issue a request for additional information (RAI) by March 3, 2025, and request a response within 45 days. The NRC staff estimates that 800 hours0.00926 days
0.222 hours
0.00132 weeks
3.044e-4 months
will be needed to complete the technical review. The final completion date and level of effort could change due to several factors including the need for additional RAIs, unanticipated changes in the scope of the review, and ACRS reviews. The NRC staff will communicate any changes to the review schedule or estimated hours.
