Purpose:
The purpose of this meeting between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Arizona Public Service Company (APS, the licensee) is to discuss a planned license amendment request for Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2, and 3, regarding increases to Technical Specifications 3.5.1, "Safety Injection Tanks (SITs) -
Operating," and 3.5.2, "Safety Injection Tanks (SITs) - Shutdown," SIT nitrogen cover pressure band to reduce the challenges on the SIT vent valves. The discussion will include updates to the large break loss-of-coolant-accident evaluations; and containment pressure/temperature analyses including converting to the GOTHIC computer code from the no longer supported COPATTA code.
