NUCLEAR SHIP SAVANNAH - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RE: SUBMITTAL AND REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF THE LICENSE TERMINATION PLAN (EPID L-2023-LLA-0151)

Dear Erhard W. Koehler

By letter dated October 23, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML23298A041), United States Maritime Administration (MARAD),

submitted a license amendment for the Nuclear Ship Savannah (NS Savannah). The proposed amendment would modify the License to add License Condition 2.C.(4) to include License Termination Plan (LTP) requirements to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) license for NS Savannah.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed the information submitted by the licensee and determined that additional information is required to complete its review. The requested additional information is attached. The draft questions were sent to you to ensure that they were understandable, the regulatory basis for the questions was clear, and to determine if the information was previously docketed. A clarification call was held on May 30, 2024. Based on insight from the discussion it was determined that the response will be provided within 30 days to be submitted by July 1, 2024.

If you have any questions, please contact me.
