Interim Report of a Potential Deviation or Failure to Comply Associated with Bentley Systems Incorporated AutoPIPE Software (Update)
This letter is a follow-up to the interim report L-Pl-24-007 submitted on February 09, 2024 (ADAMS Accession number ML24040A171) by Northern States Power Company, a Minnesota Corporation, (NSPM), doing business as Xcel Energy, pursuant to 10 CFR 21.21 (a)(2).
NSPM's evaluation of whether the identified error in the AutoPIPE software could create a substantial safety hazard is ongoing. Actions to complete this evaluation are being tracked in the NSPM Corrective Action Program. NSPM is currently working with a vendor to perform an assessment of the calculations to determine which ones could potentially be impacted by the software error. The identified calculations by both NSPM and the vendor will be further evaluated to determine the impact of the error. NSPM estimates the required 10 CFR Part 21 evaluation will be completed by June 30, 2024 for both the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant and the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant.
