COMANCHE PEAK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 - SAFETY EVALUATION FOR THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION REVIEW (EPID NO. L-2022-RNW-0018)
Dear Mr. Peters:
By letter dated October 3, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Package Accession No.ML22297A247), as supplemented by letters dated April 6, 2023 (ML23096A302), April 24, 2023 (ML23114A377), and January 31, 2024 (ML24031A608), Vistra Operations Company LLC (Vistra or the applicant) submitted an application for license renewal of Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-87 and NPF-89 for Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant (CPNPP), Units 1 and 2, to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or staff), pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants.
The NRC staff determined that the application was complete and acceptable for docketing as communicated by letter dated November 23, 2022 (ML22297A007), and noticed in the Federal Register on December 1, 2022 (87 FR 73798).
The NRC staff has reviewed the CPNPP License Renewal Application (LRA) and has developed the enclosed Safety Evaluation Related to the License Renewal of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2, hereinafter referred to as the Safety Evaluation (SE). The SE reflects the status of the NRC staffs safety review of the LRA, as supplemented, through January 31, 2024.
The next milestone for this project is the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards Full Committee meeting.
