Apparent Violation Title 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B, Criterion XVI, Corrective Actions, requires, in part, that measures shall be established to assure that conditions adverse to quality, such as failures, malfunctions, deficiencies, deviations, defective materials and equipment, and nonconformances are promptly identified and corrected.
From June 1, 2023, to September 23, 2023, the licensee failed to establish measures to assure that conditions adverse to quality are promptly identified and corrected. Specifically, the licensee failed to identify and correct a deficiency on the 2B auxiliary feedwater pumps diesel engine after receiving results from a May 19, 2023, lubricating oil sample on June 1, 2023, indicating viscosity levels in the alert range.
The NRC characterized this issue as preliminarily greater than green.
