BETWEEN THE U.S.

NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND XCEL ENERGY On January 29, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a teleconference meeting with representatives from Xcel Energy (applicant) regarding the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant, Unit 1 (Monticello) subsequent license renewal environmental review. The purpose of the teleconference was to discuss technical clarifications regarding the Monticello site cultural resource literature search and red cedar survey recently commissioned by Xcel Energy. This was a closed meeting (Agencywide Documents Access Management System (ADAMS) ML24019A138).

During the teleconference, Xcel Energy discussed:

• Extent of site disturbance

• Path of visual inspection during the site walk-over

• Updates to site procedures The NRC staff asked if Xcel planned to update their site procedures to include a tribal monitor during ground disturbance as requested by the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe made this request during a government-to-government meeting teleconference with the NRC on January 11, 2024 (ML24023A090). Xcel stated that the tribal monitor request was being discussed internally and requested the ADAMS number of the January 11, 2024, meeting summary once publicly available.
