BWXT ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES, LLC - FINAL SAFETY EVALUATION FOR TOPICAL REPORT BANR-QAPD-001, BWXT ADVANCED NUCLEAR REACTOR QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION, REVISION 000
Dear Mr. Schilthelm:
By letter dated November 30, 2022 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML22335A417), as supplemented by letter dated June 1, 2023 (ML23152A260), BWXT Advanced Technologies, LLC (BWXT AT) requested the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs review and approval of topical report (TR) BANR-QAPD-001, BWXT Advanced Nuclear Reactor Quality Assurance Program Description, Revision 000.
This TR provides for control of BWXT AT activities that affect the quality of safety-related nuclear plant structures, systems, and components (SSCs) and include all planned and systematic activities necessary to provide adequate confidence that such SSCs will perform satisfactorily in service.
On January 3, 2024, the NRC staff provided BWXT AT a draft of the safety evaluation (SE) for the purpose of verifying accuracy of information (ML24003A684). On January 23, 2024, BWXT AT confirmed no comments on the TR (ML24024A180). The NRC staffs final SE for BANR-QAPD-001, Revision 000, is enclosed.
In accordance with the NRC staff published information for TRs are available at https://www.nrc.gov/about-nrc/regulatory/licensing/topical-reports.html, the NRC staff requests that BWXT AT publish an accepted version of this TR within 3 months of receipt of this letter.
The accepted version should incorporate this letter and the enclosed SE. Also, the accepted version must contain historical review information, including requests for additional information (RAI) and/or preliminary questions and respective responses. The accepted version should include an -A (designated accepted) following the TR identification number.
