Compatibility Review Process
- State Proposes or revises a rule, license condition, or legislation
- State submits regulation, license condition, or legislation to the NRC for review Day 0
- Acceptance review performed by the State Regulation Review Coordinator (SRRC)
- Acceptance email sent to State if package accepted for review 2 Days
- Reviewer is assigned by the MSST Deputy Division Director or designee (usually the SRRC)
- Reviewer performs and documents the compatibility review 14-30 Days
- SRRC audits the completed review
- Reviewer and SRRC resolve any outstanding comments/issues 2 Days
- NRC Office of the General Counsel (OGC) performs a legal review
- SRRC and OGC resolve any outstanding comments/issues
- SRRC calls the state to communicate the review results 14 Days
- Compatibility review letter, comments (if any) and State Regulation Status Sheet (SRS) are finalized
- MSST Deputy Division Director or designee sign the review 2 Days
- Review letter is sent electronically and mailed to the State
- Review results are posted to the NMSS website at: https://scp.nrc.gov/rulemaking.html 60-day goal
