Dear Daniel Ashworth,

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed an acceptance review of the submittal from BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. - Lynchburg, dated November 16, 2023 (ML23325A038), requesting an exemption from security event notification and suspicious activity reporting implementation in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 73.5. We have identified no administrative omissions or deficiencies that would prevent us from proceeding with a detailed review.

Your submittal has been assigned Enterprise Project Identifier (EPID) L-2023-SPR-0013.

Please reference this EPID number and Docket Number 70-27 in any future correspondence associated with this request.

Please note that the NRC staffs technical review of your submittal may identify issues that require additional information. Although the NRC staff is prioritizing the review of your submittal - based on our preliminary review, projection of current review schedules, and available resources, we now anticipate completing our review by February 9, 2024. This date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule. In addition, the NRC staff estimates that completing the review of your submittal will require up to 40 staff hours, which corresponds to about $11,600.00 ($290.00/hr.)

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this e-mail will be available for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or electronically from the Publicly Available Records System component of the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS).
