REMAINING FINAL STATUS SURVEYS, ZION NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 (ZION) (EPIDS L-2017-DTP-0006 AND L-2017-DTP-0007)
Dear Mr. Sauger:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed its review of the Zion Final Status Survey Reports associated with the remaining 128 survey units from the Zion Facility Operating Licenses outside the on-site Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation boundary. The NRC staff conclude that the Final Status Surveys provide reasonable assurance that the residual radioactivity in each of the survey units meets the criteria established in the Zion License Termination Plan and in 10 CFR 20.1402, Radiological criteria for unrestricted use, for the reasons stated in the Conclusions Section of the enclosed safety evaluation. This safety evaluation supports the June 5, 2020 (Agencywide Document Management and Access System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20164A096) as supplemented on March 3, 2021 ( ML21102A397), Partial Site Release (PSR) application.
The NRC will provide a decision on the PSR request under separate correspondence.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs ADAMS.
