Rod Ejection Accident Methodology Topical Report, TR-0716-50350, Schedule Update On February 26, 2023, the NRC notified NuScale of the revised schedule for review of Topical Report (TR)-0716-50350, Revision 2, Rod Ejection Accident Methodology, (ML21351A399) that called for the staff to provide NuScale with the advanced safety evaluation (ASER) with no open items for proprietary material review by July 14, 2023 (ML23024A126). The NRC also notified NuScale that the review would require 1200 total staff hours to complete.
On April 17, 2023, during an audit (ML23107A227), the staff provided NuScale with 26 audit issues that address TR clarification. On June 30, 2023, NuScale provided staff with the responses in the audit electronic reading room. As a result of the audit questions, NuScale will need to submit a revision to the TR and the schedule for completion of the SER will need to be revised. A new schedule was discussed with Wren Fowler on September 18, 2023 and calls for the staff to provide NuScale with the ASER with no open items for proprietary material review by November 30, 2023. The staff will require an additional 600 hours0.00694 days <br />0.167 hours <br />9.920635e-4 weeks <br />2.283e-4 months <br /> for completion of the TR review and preparation of the SER (1,800 hrs total).
