[External_Sender] Discussion with Texas Historical Commission Pat and Joe, I talked with Caitlin Brashear of the Texas Historical Commission on June 28, 2023. I shared the following information with Caitlin.

  • The Abilene school district built a new Taylor Elementary School about a mile from the former elementary school.
  • Abilene Christian University bought the former Taylor Elementary School from the school district two or three years ago.
  • Abilene Christian University is now using the former elementary school for several purposes, including laboratory space in the former gym and storage.
  • The ballfields at the former elementary school were used as intramural fields by the University.
  • The new Science and Engineering Research Center has been built on the intramural fields.
  • The Science and Engineering Research Center will house the Molten Salt Research Reactor if Abilene Christian University is granted a construction permit by the NRC.

I acknowledged that the consultation was between THC and the NRC and asked how I could help facilitate the consultation. Caitlin said that photographs of the former elementary school would be helpful. She asked in particular to see the juxtaposition of the former elementary school to the new Science and Engineering Research Center. Caitlin said that the photographs would need to be sent to the NRC. I asked if I could copy her when I sent the photographs to the NRC. Caitlin said that it would be better to not copy her and send the images only to the NRC.

I said that I would get some photographs and send them to the NRC within a few days. I prepared the photographs as response to NRC Environmental Audit question CR-6 and transmitted the photographs to the NRC on July 5, 2023.
