- Billy, During the clarification call today, SNC indicated that we could officially respond to the 2nd Round RAIs by the end of month (August 31st). After reconvening post-call and much consideration, SNC has decided that the RAI response will be submitted no later than September 8th which is within the 30-day timeline mentioned below. SNC will continue work to expedite our response and issue the response to the RAIs as soon as possible.

LAR 22-002 Second Round RAI Approved ML23188A151 EXTERNAL MAIL: Caution Opening Links or Files
- Keith, By letter dated January 1, 2023 (ADAMS Accession No. ML23003A797) the Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc (SNC), submitted for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP),
Units 3&4, a license amendment request (LAR), Technical Specification 3.8.3, Inverters -
Operating Time Completion Time Extension (LAR-22-002). The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the Commission) staff accepted this LAR for review on January 25, 2023 (ML23025A165). On May 17, 2023, the NRC issued a Final Request for Additional Information (RAI) (ML23137A216) to which SNC responded and supplemented by letter dated June 13, 2023 (ML23164A270), to the RAI and provided a supplement to the original April 17, 2023, submittal. On June 26, 2023, SNC and NRC discussed RAI Questions #2 and #4 in detail and SNC requested a Round 2 RAI so that they could add additional information as needed.
Attached is the approved final 2nd Round RAI as we have previously discussed. You will notice that it is attached above in Word format with an accession number assigned. That is because it is prepared for normal release which I believe is a 7-day delay to making the document public.
I have 2 requests: first I ask is, although I dont believe there is any proprietary information contained in the attachment, that you please give it a review and let me know yes or no and then I can take the appropriate action before release or even accelerate the release (if not proprietary).
Second, and as you know, this 2nd Round RAI has been prepared in accordance with NRC Guidance LIC-115 Rev 1. The timeline for your response should be 30 days from the date of this email. So let me know if you want to have a meeting to discuss or if you consider it to be final. If you expect to accelerate that date please let me know.
