CONFIRMATION OF RECEIPT REGARDING FRAMATOME WHITE PAPER, REGULATORY ENGAGEMENT FOR HIGH BURNUP FUEL FRAGMENTATION, RELOCATION AND DISPERSAL (EPID L-2023-LRO-0059)

Dear Ms. Elliott:

By letter dated August 4, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Package Accession No. ML23219A031), Framatome, Inc. (Framatome) submitted white paper, Regulatory Engagement for High Burnup Fuel Fragmentation, Relocation and Dispersal, for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review and feedback. The NRC staff plans to provide written feedback on the three requested items listed in the letter.

In the letter, Framatome requested feedback within 60 days of receipt and with a level of NRC staff effort of less than 160 hours0.00185 days
0.0444 hours
2.645503e-4 weeks
6.088e-5 months
. The NRC staff reviewed Framatomes request and plans to provide feedback by November 3, 2023, within the requested hours. This planned schedule may be subject to change and takes into consideration the NRCs current review priorities, available technical resources, and specific requests. If modifications to this date is deemed necessary, we will provide appropriate updates.

Section 170.21 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations requires that reviews be subject to fees based on the full cost of the review. You did not request a fee waiver; therefore, NRC staff-hours will be billed accordingly.

Please contact Ngola Otto at (301) 415-6695, if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

/RA/
