Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 and Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation Renewed Facility Operating License No. NPF-41 Docket Numbers STN 50-528 and 72-44 Registration of Dry Spent Fuel Transportable Storage Canister Identification Numbers AMZDFX167 and AMZDFX169 and Vertical Concrete Cask Identification Numbers AMZDNE168, and AMZDNE169 In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 72.212(b)(2), Arizona Public Service Company (APS) is registering the use of dry spent fuel storage casks to store spent fuel under a 10 CFR Part 72 general license at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS) Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI). The information below is provided for the following:
Transportable storage canister (TSC) identification number AMZDFX167, used to store spent fuel within vertical concrete cask (VCC) identification number AMZDNE168, beginning on July 14, 2023.
TSC identification number AMZDFX169, used to store spent fuel within VCC identification number AMZDNE169, beginning on July 25, 2023.
Licensee's Name:
APS is the operating agent for PVNGS.
PVNGS Units 1, 2, and 3 have seven owners who are licensees. The owners/licensees are APS, Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District, El Paso Electric Company, Southern California Edison Company, Public Service Company of New Mexico, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and Southern California Public Power Authority. As specified in the PVNGS renewed operating licenses, APS is authorized to act as agent for the PVNGS licensees and has exclusive responsibility and control over the physical construction, operation and maintenance of the facility.
