ISSUANCE OF THE SITE-SPECIFIC ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT SCOPING PROCESS

SUMMARY

REPORT ASSOCIATED WITH THE TURKEY POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NUMBERS 3 AND 4, SUBSEQUENT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION, ENVIRONMENTAL REPORT SUPPLEMENT 2 (EPID NUMBER: L-2022-SLE- 0002) (DOCKET NUMBERS:

50-250 AND 50-251)

Dear Dianne Strand:

Pursuant to Section 51.29 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the environmental scoping process and solicited public comments from October 7, 2022, to November 7, 2022. This process determined the scope of the staffs environmental review of the application for subsequent renewal of the renewed facility operating licenses for Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 3 and 4 (Turkey Point), as supplemented by Environmental Report, Supplement 2. The scoping process is the first step in the development of a Turkey Point site-specific environmental impact statement as a supplement to the previously issued final supplemental environmental impact statement for Turkey Point subsequent license renewal, i.e., Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 5, Second Renewal, Regarding Subsequent License Renewal for Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 3 and 4, Final Report (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System ML19290H346).

At the conclusion of the scoping process, the NRC staff prepared the enclosed environmental scoping summary report identifying comments received during the scoping period. In accordance with 10 CFR 51.29(b), the staff will send a copy of the scoping summary report to each participant in the scoping process.
