Dear Daniel Ashworth:

This correspondence is regarding your submittal dated March 28, 2023, transmitted by BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. - Lynchburg (BWXT NOG-L) Letter 23015, that requested a review of proposed changes to the BWXT NOG-L Physical Protection Plan in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), section 70.34. The incoming cover letter was not publicly available due to the sensitive security-related information contained therein. The enclosure to the cover letter was also not publicly available because of its classified designation. Our review of your submittal has identified that additional information is needed before final action can be taken.

The additional information, specified in the two requests for information (RAIs) sent via classified email to the BWXT NOG-L Classification Officer on June 6, 2023, should be provided by July 6, 2023. The RAIs are not publicly available because of their classified designation.

Pending your response, we anticipate completing our review by September 29, 2023. This date could change depending on the findings of our technical review, urgent assignments, or other factors. We will promptly communicate any significant changes to this schedule.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs)
