ABOUT THE NRC The NRC licenses and regulates the Nations civilian use of radioactive material to achieve the following goals:
Safety - Ensure adequate protection of public health and safety and the environment Security - Ensure adequate protection of the secure use and management of radioactive materials 5
SOME NUCLEAR FACTS 93 nuclear power plants supply about 20 percent of the electricity in the U.S.
Nuclear materials are used in medicine for diagnosis and cancer treatment Nuclear materials are widely used in industry, such as in density gauges, flow measurement devices, radiography devices, and irradiators 6
THE NRC REGULATES Nuclear reactors - commercial power reactors, research and test reactors, new reactor designs Nuclear materials - nuclear reactor fuel, radioactive materials for medical, industrial, and academic use Nuclear waste - transportation, storage and disposal of nuclear material and waste, decommissioning of nuclear facilities Nuclear security - physical security of nuclear facilities and materials from sabotage or attacks 7

- A WHITE finding and associated violation of the Davis-Besse License Condition 2.D requirement to fully implement and maintain in effect all provisions of the Commission-approved Cyber Security Plan.
- The finding is open pending a successful completion of a supplemental inspection
- A WHITE finding and associated violation involving the failure to select a suitable replacement part for the emergency diesel generators.
- The selected speed switch was not compatible with the stations direct current (dc) battery system.
- Finding was closed after the end of 3rd quarter 2022.

SAFETY SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS OR PIS
- An apparent violation of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulation Part 50 Section 54(i).
- Facility licensee permitting a licensed operator to manipulate the controls of its facility when the licensed operator did not meet a condition of the license.
