PUBLIC MEETING

SUMMARY

- LICENSEE PERFORMANCE REVIEW OF NUCLEAR FUEL SERVICES, INC., DOCKET NUMBER 07000143

Dear Ronald Dailey:

This letter refers to our meeting held on May 18, 2023, at the Unicoi County Courthouse in Erwin, TN, from 6:30 to 8:00pm. The meeting was also accessible to members of the public via Microsoft Teams. During the meeting, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) discussed its review of Nuclear Fuel Services (NFSs) performance in the areas of safety operations, radiological controls, facility support, and safeguards. The meeting afforded you the opportunity to respond to NRCs conclusions about NFSs performance over the period from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2022. As documented in our letter to you dated March 3, 2023 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Number ML23060A102),

the NRC staff determined that NFS conducted activities safely, securely, and in a manner that protects public health and the environment. Based on our review of activities, no areas needing improvement were identified within the four major performance areas.

In addition, the meeting afforded the public the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to the NRC regarding our inspection program and the NFSs performance. While the meetings purpose was not to actively solicit comments towards regulatory decisions, as stated in the public meeting notice dated April 11, 2023 (ML23102A010), the NRC listened to comments and answered questions from the attendees in a variety of topics related to NFSs performance and operations. A summary of the topics discussed during the question and answer portion of the meeting are available in ADAMS via Accession Number (ML23152A006).

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice and Procedure," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible

R. Dailey 2 from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).

Should you have any questions concerning this meeting, please contact me at 404-997-4825.
