The NRC must carefully study all impacts of the manufacture, transportation and disposal of this dangerous fuel, and consider the increased risk of nuclear terrorism which this fuel poses. In addition, nuclear reactors with their likelihood of catastrophic accidents and radiation releases over their lifetimes are the wrong way to face the climate crisis. We need to invest in low-carbon, safe, renewable fuels, not lock ourselves into a new generation of nuclear infrastructure.
I strongly oppose this TRISO facility, and call upon the NRC to follow the precautionary principle and conduct a full and honest assessment and disclosure of its impacts.
